Packing the Water Pipe
In the last few years, much effort has been invested in improving inefficiencies in the volumetric pipeline, but particles have remained largely untouched. This work introduces loss-less and lossy spatial compression schemes that significantly reduce the I/O bandwidth, disk usage, and memory bottleneck in the effects pipeline.
